I Want Something New to Let People Know Where I Stand Politically
The new year is coming up and I want something new for myself to let people know how I feel about certain issues. I have a wide group of friends who email me things that I don’t always agree with, so I’m going to start ordering the silicone bracelets that will let them know how I feel on different issues so I can do a couple of things. First, by wearing the silicone bracelets that support the causes I believe in, they will know how I stand. Second, by NOT wearing those silicone wristbands on things that I don’t support, the absence may speak louder than words.
The silicone bracelets are the perfect solution to my dilemma. I want something new besides just telling them I don’t want to read emails about organizations or political writings that I simply do not agree with. And when I buy the wristbands from the groups that are selling them, I’m making a financial contribution to those nonprofits or organizations who are selling them.
These wristbands can be worn just about anywhere. The silicone material from which they are made is pretty remarkable stuff. It is heat resistant, water resistant, and can be tossed in the washer and dryer or dishwasher to clean. I plan to wear these rubber or silicone wristbands often, and keeping them clean is part of the drill for making a strong and positive statement to my friends or strangers who might ask me what I am supporting by wearing them.
While I want something new, I don’t want to stick out in a crowd as a proselytizer, so I’ll probably just wear one at a time. I’ve seen people wearing a couple at a time, but that’s not my style. I’m going to keep my opinions quiet unless my friends ask me, and of course, I would never approach a stranger with my message, unless they ask me first.
